Shanghai Jiao Tong
University (SJTU) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Foundation of America (SJTUFA) will jointly hold the first
SJTU North America Alumni Summit on September 26,
2009 in Los Angeles. The purposes of the summit
are to provide a reunion and networking opportunity for
alumni, recruit talents for SJTU key positions, and help
SJTU alumni and friends find career and business development
opportunities both in the US and China. This event will
also serve as the inaugural ceremony of SJTUFA.
SJTU President ZHANG Jie will personally lead a large
delegation from Shanghai to attend the summit, which will
include a number of
business executives from the SJTU EMBA program.
The Honorable Elaine Chao, former US Secretary of Labor,
will participate as the keynote speaker on “Chinese
Heart, American Mind, Global Dream” at the
fundraising gala, where the award winning
SJTU Symphony Orchestra will also perform.
The renowned economist, public speaker, and
best seller author
Mr. SHI Hanbin will be the featured speaker on
economic trend and investment strategies.
Jeffrey Chao, the founder and Chairman of
TP-Link Technologies Co. Ltd., will be the featured
speaker on Chinese Private Enterprises in
Globalization.
Founded in
1896, Shanghai Jiao Tong University is one of the oldest and
most prestigious universities in China, which is often
referred as "MIT in the East". Over its 113 years of
history, SJTU has made great contribution to China’s
development in science and technology. Many of SJTU alumni
have gone on to achieve great success in business, science,
engineering, academia, and in other walks of life. The
former president of China Mr. Jiang Zemin and the father
of Chinese space program Dr. Qian Xuesen are among those
renowned SJTUers. SJTU is well on the way for its endeavor
to become a world class university.
SJTUFA is a
public charity organization with IRS 501(c)(3) tax exempt
status. SJTUFA raises funds for the SJTU research and
education programs, promotes corporation between SJTU and
the US organizations, and bridges SJTU with the thousands of
alumni residing in North America.
Many SJTU
alumni from China and other states in the US are expected to
attend the event. The
Westin Hotel at Los Angeles International Airport is
